Bushcraft in the Gower Wilderness

Bushcraft is the Art of learning to live comfortably in a wilderness environment using a combination of primitive and modern techniques. Think Ray Mears, Cool Camping and Funky Food Foraging and Feasts, rolled into one wilderness trip in Wales.

Bushcraft can be a life changing experience that will open your eyes to the wonders of the natural world in a unique way.

Imagine yourself; building shelters, identifying edible herbs and plants, foraging for seasonal food, lighting fires without matches, travelling by inflatable boat to remote beaches, bird watching, catching and cooking fish in the woods and learning about animal habitats, droppings and tracks.......

Bushcrafting and Food Foraging Party £40

Gower Wilderness Walking Party £40

Evening Campfire with Storytelling £20

If it all gets too much, you can snooze in one of our tee-pees and/or read a book. We do not run hideous army boot camps and we believe people should relax in the wilderness!

InternetOutdoor.com organises TEN different Bushcraft courses for you to choose from.

Bushcraft courses include: 1 day intro to Bushcrafting, 1 or 2 day Corporate Bushcrafting course, 2 day Cast Away Survival Course, 1 or 2 day Survival and Teambuilding course, Practical Woodman’s Course, Wilderness Gourmet Course, Prehistoric Gower course, Disaster Preparedness Workshop, Cast Away Adventure and a Family Bushcraft Camp.

The Gower Wilderness Week includes days of bushcrafting, survival skills, sustainable living skills, games, outdoor sports such as coasteering, rock hopping, climbing, body boarding and kite surfing and a sleep over/story telling sessions in tee-pees on Friday night.

The History of Gower is as rich and diverse as its geography. Archaeological investigations have produced evidence of human habitation from the Palaeolithic period onwards including the discovery in 1826 of a red Ochre stained human skeleton in Paviland Cave. This skeleton was originally believed to have been that of a woman and was therefore named the Red Lady of Paviland. It has since been identified as the skeleton of a young man who lived 29,000 years ago. This is the oldest set of human remains found in the UK, and the oldest ceremonial burial in Western Europe. The skeleton was found along with jewellery made from ivory, as well as a mammoth skull and other animal bones.
