Wilderness Gourmet

This is a fantastic day out for all the family. We will be preparing a 3 course meal in the great outdoors, using a mixture of seasonably available wild foods as well as foods we will bring with us. All food will be cooked over wood fires and we will show you how to make the best use of the materials and ingredients available. An experienced Chef will be on hand to give advice and assistance with culinary matters.

Disaster Preparedness Workshop

This residential course has been developed in response to the large number of enquiries we have received since Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans and other areas of the Gulf coast of the USA. Although it is unlikely that anything on the scale of Katrina will happen in the UK there is no doubt that some physical and psychological preparations can make a great deal of difference if you find yourself in a survival situation. Climate change, Natural disasters, Terrorism, Economic upheavals, getting lost in the wilderness, shipwrecks, are all possible events that can be prepared for given the right approach.

This Course is essentially a survival Course. The practice of Survival skills is different in many cases to the practice of Bushcraft. Learning Survival skills does not necessarily mean that you will be comfortable, but with the right attitude and skills you will stay alive.

The Course will cover subjects such as The survival mind, what makes you a survivor? Survival equipment, developing the perfect survival kit for your activities. Home based survival, storing supplies for emergencies. 72 hour Kits, Bug out Bags, Wilderness survival, how to make the best use of natural resources in a crisis and many other skills. Course will be presented as a series of scenarios based on their priorities.

The course is intensive and will require a reasonable level of physical fitness.

Includes 1 nights accommodation and all food.

Castaway Adventure

The Mini Castaway Adventure has been designed for Families and Children over 8 years old. Adapted from our Gower Castaway course, the Mini Castaway adventure includes an extended Boat trip with Gower Coast Adventures, and a Seal spotting tour of the spectacular tidal island of Worms Head.

The name Worms head is an adaptation of the Norse term for serpent, and it is not difficult to see why many years ago Viking raiders gave it this name.

After the boat trip you will be Castaway at a remote Beach where you will learn how to survive by building a shelter, lighting a fire, finding food and many other essential skills.

Do you have what it takes to survive the Mini Castaway adventure?

Family Bushcraft camp

The enjoyment of learning how to live comfortably in a wilderness environment is something that the whole family can now enjoy. During 2005 we had a massive number of enquiries from families with young children. At the time we didn’t have any courses specifically designed for families, but from now on we will be offering several Wilderness weekend camps every year.

Safety is of course a priority for us, so we have developed a range of activities that can be enjoyed by everyone. Dad can learn how to use an Axe while the kids build a hoop shelter, and Mum can take a well earned break. The course will be based at Parc-le-Breos valley in the centre of Gower. This fantastic location is perfect for a whole range of activities from wilderness Bushcraft and nature walks, to chilling out on the Beach. The campsite is surrounded by deciduous woodland and is only 20 minutes walk from the Sea.

The weekend will include Nature Walks and Coastal Foraging, Shelter Building, Fire lighting and wilderness Cookery, Tracking,, willow craft and many other activities.

Accommodation is Camping and you are welcome to bring your own tents.
